Do-it-yourself round brick brazier oven. How to make a garden barbecue oven with your own hands

To do delicious food in the country, a good option would be to use a brick barbecue. Do-it-yourself construction is quite simple.

Our article will acquaint you with the principles of operation of a mini oven, you will find out what it can consist of.

Barbecue is the most popular way of cooking outdoors. A similar design is similar to a barbecue, has a typical device.

The difference between barbecue and barbecue

Barbecue specialists who converted a lot of stoves into outdoors they know with their own hands that the brazier fries food from below due to smoldering coals.

The food is not fried on top. Therefore, you have to constantly turn the skewer.

Barbecue is different. Meat is placed on the grate, the grate itself becomes slightly lower than the side walls. This is the whole essence of the work of this design. In a barbecue oven, the tray looks like a solid canvas, without grates.

During the smoldering of coal, food is gradually fried due to reflection from the walls of the oven itself.

The walls of the barbecue are high, due to this, a smoke cap is formed above the products, they are slightly smoked in it, this gives them a special aroma. If you put a piece of tough pork in such an oven, it will become soft and juicy during roasting in the oven.

You might think that the height above the walls of 25 cm does not matter, but this is not so. The culinary process is a delicate matter, food lends itself to the slightest change in temperature.

If you pay attention, you will notice that most picnics in nature or in the country are not complete without a barbecue oven, the brazier is not so popular. There are a lot of designs of a brick barbecue oven, you can easily choose a convenient option for yourself.

How to build a barbecue yourself?

At first glance, it seems that not simple cooking in a barbecue oven means that the design is complex. However, this is not so, building a stove with your own hands is quite simple.

It is the lovers of country gatherings who build stoves with their own hands. The materials for its construction are always at hand for each owner. Each man held bricks in his hands, which means that building a furnace for him will not be difficult.

First they put brick walls, then they measure the place where the firewood tray will stand, the last step is to install the grate for groceries.

When building a barbecue oven, it is important to think about it. appearance. Beautifully crafted design will be the best decoration suburban area.

Design features

In simple terms, a barbecue oven is the most primitive brickwork. Make it in the form of the letter "P". Such a simple structure will be an excellent option for outdoor cooking.

Skillful builders put fasteners for skewers on the ovens, this greatly facilitates the work when frying meat, you don’t need to hold anything with your hands, just turn it over.

Barbecue Oven Materials

The barbecue oven is assembled from standard red brick, which is always available on the site. It is impossible to coat the layers of brick with ordinary clay; here you need a high-quality cement mortar.

At the end of the construction of such a furnace, a pipe is always removed, it serves as an exhaust hood, a canopy from bad weather and strong winds.

If there is an exhaust hood, such a stove can easily be placed in a gazebo, on an open terrace, acrid smoke will not come from it directly in the face.

Mangals, barbecue - in Lately are very popular with everyone. Who doesn't love eating delicious food outdoors?

Without exception, everyone loves the taste of juicy, roasted meat. It is for such a pleasure that it is worth using all the strength, experience, building a similar oven. You will be proud of your invention, as well as delight your loved ones with new barbecue recipes.

Brick barbecue photo

The brazier is one of the mandatory attributes summer holidays. If space and budget allow, it is quite possible to equip it in your own summer cottage. Nowadays, there are many detailed instructions that describe step by step how to make a brick brazier on your own.

Yes, you can just buy a ready-made brazier for the dacha, but there is something attractive in the plans to build such a brick brazier with your own hands. Country barbecue is not only a gathering place for the whole family and an interesting element of country design.

Advantages of a brick brazier (barbecue)

  1. It is possible to cook not only meat, but also other products. For example, fish, various seafood, vegetables, poultry, even sweets.
  2. Larger dimensions and a round (as a rule) shape of the brazier + back wall contribute to a more even distribution of heat over the entire area.
  3. Products are not strung on skewers, but are placed on the grid, and you can change its position in height, thereby choosing the optimal mode.
  4. Heat can be obtained not only from burning wood or coal, but also from other heat sources.
  5. The presence of an extract.
  6. In some cases, a temperature indicator is installed, which provides additional convenience in cooking.
  7. It is not necessary to marinate the meat before cooking.

Choosing the location of the brazier and its dimensions

You need to start with this. On several acres, when literally every "inch of the earth" is expensive, it is not so easy to make a choice. But the drawing of the brazier is drawn up based on the size of the segment on which the stove will be built.

What counts:

  • The brazier should not interfere with the daily work process in the country.
  • It is advisable to place the stove so that the prevailing wind blows the smoke away from the house.
  • There should be a main pipe near this place.
  • It is hardly advisable to bring a full-fledged water pipe to the object, and even pull it through the site.
  • So that the vagaries of the weather do not become an obstacle when cooking barbecue, it is advisable to build at least a light canopy over the barbecue.
  • Therefore, there should not be tall shrubs and fruit trees nearby.
  • And if we consider that the heat from the stove will not affect them in the best way, then the need for some of its remoteness from the vegetation becomes even more obvious.
  • In addition to the brazier itself, it is advisable to equip a place for storing firewood on this site, as well as put a small table and at least a couple of benches (as an option).

It will be equally important to consider the following:

  • The ground surface must be level;
  • It is advisable to have a barbecue area near the kitchen. So it will be easier if necessary to equip a place for cooking with light or water.

When building a brazier, it is better to decide in advance where you will cook the meat, serve it and wash the dishes.

The brazier is a source of open fire. Its location should be at a sufficient distance from buildings, especially flammable ones, as well as from trees and bushes.

Tools

List of tools needed to build a brick brazier:

  • measuring tape,
  • rule
  • wheelbarrow,
  • chalk,
  • spade bayonet,
  • sledgehammer,
  • pitchfork,
  • shovel,
  • bucket,
  • trowel for laying mortar and jointing,
  • jigsaw,
  • pick,
  • chisel,
  • rubber and carpentry hammers,
  • level,
  • saw.

Selection of bricks for barbecue

The operation of a brick brazier is very different from the use of other buildings. Therefore, when choosing a brick, the following conditions must be taken into account:

  1. High temperatures. When burning some types of wood, the temperature can reach 1000 ° C and above.
  2. Sharp temperature changes. In a short time, the brick is heated up to high temperatures and then cools down very quickly.

Attention ! For regular red or silicate brick it is simply impossible to sustain such a regime. The result will be rapid destruction, manifested in the appearance of cracks.

Some types of refractory bricks are designed for long-term exposure to high temperatures, for example, in industrial furnaces, but are not able to withstand sudden heating and cooling. The consequence of its application will also be rapid destruction.

Therefore, it is better to use red oven brick. It is calculated specifically for significant changes in thermal conditions, and is able to last for a long time without destruction.

Preparatory work

Foundation for brick brazier

For a brazier in the country, given that it is made of bricks, the most rational solution would be a slab base. Firstly, the strength and stability of the structure are provided. Secondly, you do not have to conduct bulk excavation, which is extremely undesirable for a habitable suburban area.

First, outline the area prepared for the foundation. To do this, you can use twine and pegs (its size should correspond to the area of \u200b\u200bthe brazier in the drawing).

Then, in the intended place, you need to dig a hole (a depth of 30 cm will be enough). In the resulting pit, you need to install the formwork. A bonding solution will be placed in it. This mixture is prepared from sand and cement in a ratio of 3 to 1.

The base of the brick brazier must be reinforced. For such purposes, both reinforcing bars and reinforcing mesh are used. The rods must be placed in the base after filling half of the prepared volume of the foundation.

In the case of the grid, it will have to be laid twice. The lower part of the foundation must be filled with mortar by about one third, lay the mesh on top of it, fill in another third and lay the next reinforcing layer. Then simply pour the foundation to the required height.

Brick brazier laying

To brick walls looked neat and even, it is recommended to first lay the first row of material without mortar. On the foundation, you can outline landmarks for the location of all subsequent rows in the masonry.

Brick barbecue should be laid out in a checkerboard pattern, i.e. the next row will always be offset by half a brick block relative to the previous one.

Before laying bricks, make sure that the foundation has hardened sufficiently. To be sure, it is better to wait a few days before starting work.

Masonry mortar

For masonry brazier, two types of mortar are used:

Standard mortar for places without direct contact with fire. Depending on the brand of cement, the amount of sand is calculated:

  • for M25, a proportion of 5 parts of sand to 1 part of cement is used;
  • for M50 - 4 to 1;
  • for M75 - 3 to 1.

Chamotte clay is used for laying the firebox itself. This refractory material is able to withstand high temperatures. In building materials stores, it can be found under the name "kaolin".

Laying process

The procedure for laying bricks directly depends on the order of the design / drawing of the brazier you have chosen, which must be strictly adhered to, so below we will only indicate general rules and tips:

  • Carefully lay the bricks of the initial row.
  • You need to start laying out the row from the corner, and only then fill the side walls.
  • The width of the gaps between the bricks is 1 cm.
  • Observe the correct angles and masonry level.
  • The solution for the first row should be thick.
  • Bricks of the next row necessarily overlap the seams of the previous row.
  • When laying out subsequent rows, do not forget to check the corners of the masonry for verticality.
  • Every third seam must be reinforced with mesh or steel bars.

Grid for brazier

For the base under the brazier, it is necessary to place between opposite walls metal corners or reinforcing bars. The base of the firebox made of bricks is laid out on them. We have this role played by a metal pallet. The main condition is that the firebox is easily cleaned of ash.

In the area of \u200b\u200bthe firebox, it is necessary to leave side gaps in the brickwork unfilled with mortar. This will ensure that air enters the chamber. After all, without an influx of oxygen, the process of burning fuel is impossible.

The base for the brazier is laid in the space between the walls of the structure. To do this, metal rods or corners can be placed between them, on which a brick base will be laid out. Alternatively, you can use a pallet made of thick metal sheet.

Chimney for barbecue

The easiest option is to install a metal box that has the shape of a cone, tapering upwards.

It is more difficult to make a brick chimney, here you need practical experience. It is enough to note that it is necessary to correctly calculate its height.

For the construction of the furnace and chimney, only refractory bricks are taken.

Working surface

For greater convenience of using a brick brazier, build a special one directly next to it. working area. The countertop should be in harmony with the overall appearance of the resulting stove and be comfortable to use. You can take durable floor or paving slabs.

For the work surface, it is important that it is durable and well washed.

+ Bonuses

Calculation of materials for the construction of a brazier made of bricks (for example)

The brazier, built according to the proposed drawing, serves to prepare dishes of any cuisine: Russian, European, Oriental. You can cook in it - smoke, fry, bake, boil - for a large number of eaters.

Materials:

  • Brick - 1850 pcs. (without pipe)
  • Clay - 1 m³ sand - 2 m³
  • Bar ∅ 14 mm - 2.2 m
  • Steel strip 50x5 - 1.2 m
  • Sheet steel S=5 mm - 1.5 m²
  • Water and gas pipe 1/2″ - 0.4 m
  • Steel corner 100x100 - 2.9 m

Furnace appliances:

  • Grate 415x260 - 7 pcs.
  • Ash pan door 270x130 - 3 pcs.

You don't have to start cooking kebabs right away. . A newly built brazier, as well as any other stove, must be preheated. This means that for at least a couple of days it is idling, that is, in a sparing mode, with a small load of firewood. And only after such a kind of “running in” can the structure be used for its intended purpose, that is, to cook barbecue.

Are you ready to build a brick brazier?

We will send the material to you by e-mail

It's hard to imagine a holiday country house no grilled meat. Metal braziers, no doubt, are convenient and inexpensive designs. But no matter how carefully you treat them, any metal burns out over time, and you will have to think about a new purchase. In addition, the metal brazier must be removed after use so that hunters for other people's good do not covet it in your absence. The most correct and reasonable way out is to build a brick barbecue in the country. The editors of the site have collected for you, in our opinion, the most interesting ideas completed projects, and detailed instructions construction from foundation to exterior finish.

A beautiful barbecue oven will decorate your yard

The main thing in the design of a garden brazier is the correct distribution of heat. For this, a barbecue and a brick brazier have three vertical walls and a chimney for extracting combustion products. The heat from the fuel rushes up into the hood, so working at such a barbecue is a pleasure. These garden ovens keep heat for a long time, so you can roast more than one batch of meat while the coals cool.

It's all about the practical side of things. But there is also a purely aesthetic one - such do-it-yourself designs can become a real decoration of the recreation area on your site. The main thing here is to observe reasonable proportions and correctly combine the architecture of the building with the overall design project of the estate. The most popular today is the country style, which combines rustic simplicity and practicality with solidity and special aesthetics. Natural stone in the decoration and powerful canopies that can hide from the weather are the main features of this style.

Pros and cons of brick barbecues

Skeptics may object: why bother with such costly and heavy construction, when it is much easier to get by with a factory-made brazier made of thick-walled metal? Let's look at the pros and cons of a brick garden fireplace.

AdvantagesFlaws
Long service life - such braziers do not rust and do not burn through.The solid design takes up a lot of space, requires the allocation of a separate area that is safe for working with open fire.
Excellent heat retention, which allows you to save fuel and evenly fry meat.The brick brazier is not mobile, it cannot be moved.
The possibility of including the structure in the overall architectural ensemble, a worthy design of the recreation area.For the construction of a barbecue, a special heat-resistant material is required.
The possibility of building with your own hands and the variability of finishes.

The dimensions of a brick barbecue directly depend on your needs. Drawings and photographs of a wide variety of designs are easy to find on the Internet, it will not be difficult to choose the option that is right for your yard.

Brick barbecue complex: dimensions and design

If you have planned the construction of a brick outdoor barbecue, it makes sense to consider an integrated design. It can include work surfaces for arranging dishes and cutting meat, a firewood rack for storing fuel, a cauldron, additional devices for smoking meat and fish.

You can focus on the following dimensions:

  • the minimum width of the oven is 60 centimeters, the optimal one is 80. The dimensions largely depend on the brick used;
  • the height of the grill is 70 centimeters. These parameters can be adjusted according to your height;
  • the stove itself, the place for fuel are located 10 centimeters below the grill;
  • the height of the barbecue is at least 2 meters, and taking into account the chimney - all 3.

These are the dimensions of the simplest design. Add to them countertops and other fixtures you need, and get the overall dimensions of the complex.

How to choose the right place for a barbecue design

Location - important point in the construction of a barbecue complex. Here are some tips for choosing a territory:

  • an open fire stove cannot be built near wooden buildings and other flammable objects;
  • it is better to choose the location of the complex away from home so that the smoke and aromas of food do not go through open windows;

  • the smoke from the stove should not disturb your neighbors, otherwise your barbecue plans may be thwarted by the arrival of the fire brigade.

If we summarize these requirements, it turns out that the most a good option the location of the barbecue is the backyard on the leeward side.

Brick BBQ Projects: Popular Models

Any construction begins with a project. You can not do without it in this case. The sketch of your future complex needs to be turned into order. It's not easy, so for beginners best advice will take advantage of the drawings and photographs of brick barbecue projects with the finished order. So, it will be easy to imagine the location of each brick. For free, such drawings for making a brick barbecue with your own hands can be found on many resources. We have selected a few examples for you.

How to build a brick barbecue oven with your own hands

It would seem that the construction of a brazier is a simple matter. Nevertheless, it is worth approaching it with all responsibility. The durability of the structure will depend on your approach. Properly selected material and stable construction, good finish are all ingredients for success.

The choice of material and the necessary tools

To build the foundation, you will need cement, sand and gravel or crushed stone. Reinforcement of the foundation is carried out using metal reinforcement. For the furnace, in addition to bricks, you will need to buy a stainless steel sheet, a metal pallet, roof tiles, a metal corner and a wooden beam.

And now about which brick to use for barbecue. Keep in mind: the brazier can only be built from special, refractory bricks, and not every building material is distinguished by such qualities.

Only fireclay or ceramic bricks are suitable for building a barbecue. The furnace itself is usually made from fireclay, and ceramic is used to build a pipe. The main requirements for bricks for barbecue:

  • brick density in the technical documentation - from 20 to 100 units;
  • frost resistance (marked in the documents with the letter F) - from 30 to 300;
  • the brick must not have cracks, chips or other visible defects;
  • the porosity of the material should be low, and the color should be uniform.

You can quickly check the brick right in the warehouse: hit it with a hammer. From a good solid brick, the tool will bounce. Poor quality will immediately “pop up” with cracks.

For work, you will need the usual tools of a bricklayer: a shovel and a trough for preparing a binder mixture, a trowel, a building level, a tool for jointing.

The basics of making a do-it-yourself drawing of a brick barbecue

It all depends on whether you are going to build just a stove with a hood or build a gazebo around it. If we are talking only about the barbecue, then a primitive drawing with a size calculation will do. Consider dimensions building materials. Foundation height - usually 3-40 centimeters, dimensions - one square meter. Under the brazier, a firewood is usually planned. Much more difficult if you are planning a brick barbecue in the gazebo. Here you have to start with the layout of the canopy itself, calculations of its area and the location of the brazier.

There should be a meter of free space in front of the barbecue so that it is convenient to cook. You also need to think about where the table will be located, and plan a place for pulling out chairs.

Step-by-step instructions for building a barbecue oven with an oven and a cutting table

Let's figure out how to independently create a monolithic brick barbecue with a cutting table.

IllustrationAction Description
Work begins with determining the location and marking the site for the barbecue complex. After marking, select the ground by about 20 centimeters and install the sides for pouring.
Fill the prepared place with crushed stone and prepare the reinforced frame for pouring.
Fill the prepared area with concrete. Use high-quality cement grade not lower than 300 for pouring.
The lower part of the barbecue can also be folded from foam blocks. They will not be exposed to heat, as they do not directly contact the brazier.
The author of this project used original idea- I used wave slate to fill the base of the brazier. I made bumpers for it and fixed it on the mortar directly on the base masonry.
Pour the base with concrete mortar and wait a few days until it becomes.
For the brazier, you need to make a metal pallet from thick-walled steel.
A small oven for baking on an open fire can be made from an old gas cylinder.
After installing the stove, you can mark out a place for the brazier and proceed to laying its walls.
Perform laying in sequence. By the way, the back wall can be made of less “smart” brick, as it will still turn black from smoke after the first cooking.
To install the chimney, gradually narrow the masonry upwards.
The chimney can be adapted from a concrete pipe or an old metal barrel.
Lay out the cutting table ceramic tiles. This surface will be easy to clean.
The lower part of the structure must be closed. To do this, make wooden doors.
Install the doors and place inside the firewood and the necessary equipment for cooking: baking sheets, grates, and so on.
Place a meat rack over the roaster. To install the grate during the masonry process, you need to remove the metal pins on which it will rest.
Enjoy the process. In such a complex, you can cook pies, and bake meat and vegetables.

How beautiful to decorate a brick barbecue

The design of the barbecue complex can be very diverse. You can use natural stone, it looks very colorful against the backdrop of the garden. Tile, colored bricks, plastering and the use of real tiles are popular.

A brick barbecue grill is a stationary building where barbecue, vegetables, fish and other food are cooked outdoors. Cooking takes place with the help of hot smoke and heat coming from an open fire.

Unlike collapsible metal structures, a brick brazier is a solid structure that has been used for years. It can serve as an alternative to the stove and smokehouse. On the suburban area he can still be original decoration territory.

We will tell you how do-it-yourself brick barbecues are built (drawings, photos, orders at the end of the article).

How to make a brick brazier in the country

Decided to build a street barbecue made of bricks with your own hands? There are a huge number of photos of designs of barbecues, schemes, orders. How to choose suitable option?

There are home-made barbecues made of bricks with and without a roof. Garden brazier without a roof is a brazier of various heights.

Simple design that does not require special costs and effort during construction, but during the rain it will not work to use the barbecue.

The presence of a roof implies the presence of a chimney, which is covered with a visor from precipitation. This brazier looks like a fireplace.

Closed braziers are solid street structures, they are often completed additional elements. It could be grill grate, oven-oven, cauldron. Brazier with a place for a cauldron can be used for cooking pilaf Or to warm up food. If the cauldron is removed, a full-fledged brazier remains. If the hole for the cauldron is closed with rings, you can put any dishes on them, like on a stove. The structure can be added niches for firewood, coals and utensils.

What elements will be included and how to make a country brazier out of brick so that it suits you is determined at the design stage, based on the planned dimensions, how much food will be cooked in the brazier simultaneously, and what types of food will be prepared on it.

We design a brick brazier

Ordering a building is an expensive pleasure, but with minimal masonry skills, you can freely build a brick brazier with your own hands. What elements will be needed (a cauldron, a place to heat food, a grill grate, a smokehouse) should be thought out in advance. There are many drawings. Below is an example of building a simple closed barbecue with a pipe.

ATTENTION! We strongly recommend that you take the design seriously. Many summer residents build brick barbecues with their own hands, while they do not use drawings. As a result, the design at best turns into a flower bed. Since it is not possible to use a home-made brazier made of bricks for its intended purpose. Uncomfortable.

When choosing or drafting a project, one should proceed from the dimensions of the future building. They depend on plot size. It is worth remembering that the land occupied by the barbecue, will no longer be used for other purposes.. The size of the firebox will depend on how much food will be cooked in the grill at the same time.

Projects of brick barbecues: drawings, photos

Peculiarities: the length of the firebox should not exceed 1 m - this is enough for 8-10 skewers at the same time. The width should be consistent with the length of a standard skewer - 47-62 cm. The height of the frying platform, ideally, is just above the waist of the one who will cook.

Since the stationary barbecue often becomes the central decorative element of the site, this should be taken into account when designing and choosing a location. Its reverse side looks like a solid brick wall, so it is advisable to position the structure so that it was not visible from the back.. Or provide for its decoration, taking into account fire safety.

Choosing a place for the barbecue

A barbecue area is also a place to relax. Nobody wants to build a stationary brick brazier with their own hands so that it is not convenient to use it. When choosing where to place it, be sure to consider a number of points:

  • proximity to the place of rest- not far from the gazebo, summer kitchen or shed with benches and a table;
  • level ground, specially equipped;
  • obligatory convenient approach, ideally several;
  • proximity to a water source(often a water supply system is connected to the barbecue and a sink is equipped. In this case, water will have to be drained from the system in the winter to avoid cracking pipes);
  • weather protection(canopy), sometimes they equip a brazier and a place of rest under one canopy;
  • sufficient distance from trees, flower beds and beds- from high temperatures, the plants will wither and may die;
  • sufficient distance from garbage containers and toilets;
  • Direction of the wind(if it is unchanged, place the barbecue so that the smoke is not blown towards the dwelling, but towards the wasteland).

Important! The brazier is a fire hazardous object. It should be located in the garden far enough from the house, flammable wooden buildings, parking lots.

Tools and materials

Before you build a brick brazier in the country, you need a ready-made or pre-made project independently calculate the required amount of materials.

This is necessary in order not to face a shortage of them or, conversely, excessive remaining surpluses. Based on the quantities of material calculated for the project, an estimate is drawn up.

The calculation is done so that the material is with a small margin. Of the tools you will need:

  • shovel;
  • trough or a concrete mixer;
  • buckets for solution;
  • Master OK;
  • level, plumb line;
  • circular saw a.
  • fireclay (furnace) brick, which can withstand temperature changes without cracking;

Consumables:

  • foundation material(rubble stone, cement, sand, crushed stone, boards or smooth plywood for formwork);
  • reinforcing mesh;
  • iron sheet;
  • metal gratings, latches, corners, doors.

If the brazier is designed with niches and a work area, you will additionally need stone tabletop. As a masonry mortar, a mixture of clay and sand is usually taken, at least for the firebox.

The cement mortar will quickly collapse and crack when exposed to high temperatures (it can reach 1000 ° C in the furnace) and temperature changes. Clay must first soak for a few days. Clay and building mixtures with it are offered in hardware stores.

Reference: refractory material is required for laying out a firebox that is in direct contact with fire. In order to save money, for the construction of the base and elements that are not exposed to open flames and high temperatures, you can take an ordinary brick - incl. remaining from the dismantling of any structures, cleaned of the remnants of the solution.

A simple do-it-yourself brick brazier: step by step instructions

As an example, step by step, in the do-it-yourself format, we will analyze how to build a brazier with your own hands from brick, the easiest option. The only complication that our simple brick brazier will have (photo of the proposed option below) is a pipe. We consider pipe laying necessary in Russian conditions. Building! Below is the building diagram.

Foundation for barbecue

The first stage of construction is pouring the foundation. A hole is dug deep for him. 30 cm and the size that 20-30 cm exceeds the size of the future structure. The walls and bottom are leveled, rammed. A pillow of sand and gravel is laid out at the bottom. Layers are laid alternately, each subsequent must be moistened and compacted. Cushion thickness - 15 cm.

Before pouring, a formwork is installed that protrudes above the ground by 10 cm. Placed at the bottom of the pit reinforcing mesh and filled with cement mortar. At the final stage, the foundation should be leveled with level. Complete hardening of concrete occurs 3-4 weeks, i.e. wait before proceeding with construction 28 days. For uniform setting in hot, dry weather, the surface of the concrete should be moistened periodically.

Clay is diluted with sand in the ratio 1:1 . The consistency of the solution should be like that of thick sour cream. It should be easy to take with your hands, without spreading. If a small amount of clay solution with sand easily rolls into a bundle with a diameter 1 cm, without cracking, spreading and without losing shape, then the quality of the solution is good.

While the foundation is solidifying, clay mortar should be taken care of in advance. G line soaked in water for a week and stir occasionally, adding water if necessary. Clay and clay masonry mortar are sold in hardware stores. We supply electricity while filling, before laying out the brazier of bricks. With our own hands we derive contacts for connection.

Waterproofing is laid on a completely hardened foundation - polyethylene folded several times, a layer of roofing material or other bituminous material. Country barbecues are built in compliance with the standard rules of brickwork. The brick is recommended to be poured with water the day before laying or lowered into it for 20-30 seconds immediately before laying. Then it will not take moisture from the clay, and the grip will be better.

Ordering: how to fold a brick brazier

Despite the fact that we are dismantling a brick street brazier that is easy to build, the brick laying order (scheme) is drawn up in advance, taking into account the selected dimensions and configuration. It is most convenient to do this on a sheet in a cage.

How to lay a brick? The easiest installation method is with an offset of each row by half a brick in relation to the previous one. The first two rows are laid out solid. The very first row is made up of solid bricks, without halves.

The lower part of the brazier is the plinth. Masonry scheme - from the corners to the center along pre-planned lines. Every 3 rows it is necessary to check the correct laying level and plumb, lay out the mesh for reinforcement.

The height of the plinth depends on the project. It may have one or more niches where firewood, coal and other utensils are stored. It is laid out in a continuous masonry.

The central part of the structure is the firebox. The base for the brazier in advance cast from concrete with reinforcement or laid out of brick. If arches for the firebox and niches are constructed according to the project, the circled. To evenly distribute the bricks, chips are inserted between them.

The gaps are about the same. 1 cm. Only after the arch is fully laid out, the space between the bricks is wetted and filled with mortar. The laid out arch is left to harden with a circle on day or two.

If the brazier will also be used as a barbecue, you should in advance take care of the opportunity lattice installations. A small protrusion is left for her, or several ledges so that the grid can be placed at different levels. Install it on the reinforcement bars embedded in the walls of the brazier.

Advice: if you leave small gaps between the bricks when laying the firebox, when using the brazier in the future, thanks to the air penetrating into the cracks, combustion will be better.

The brazier is laid on metal corners, which are attached to the masonry with pins. Keep this in mind when assembling a country brazier made of bricks with your own hands (photo of a correctly folded firebox below).

Important! It is unacceptable to get atmospheric precipitation on unfinished brickwork. If it starts to rain, it must be carefully covered with polyethylene.

The last stage is the construction of the chimney. Its presence allows you to keep the heat in the grill longer and remove the smoke. For the chimney, the masonry continues to be laid out, gradually narrowing it upwards. This is done by shifting bricks in rows. The shift is made no more than a third of a brick Otherwise, the structure may become unstable.

Peculiarity: the pipe is the heavy part and requires support columns to install it.

If laying out a brick pipe seems too complicated, you can install a metal one. At the end of the masonry, it is necessary to fire the walls of the firebox. To do this, kindle firewood in the hearth and increase the heat to the maximum.

The construction of the brazier, the installation of a cauldron or pallet are carried out at the final stage. After that, decoration is carried out. If there is a countertop, it can be decorated with a slab of porcelain stoneware. The brazier itself is veneered plaster, decorative stone, facing tiles, etc.

Nature, fresh air, the smell and taste of charcoal barbecue are indispensable attributes of a holiday or weekend for many people. Usually, for cooking barbecue in the country, impromptu barbecues are arranged from improvised means - old bricks, stones and grates. There is an alternative - to buy an electric barbecue grill or a ready-made metal grill with legs. But if we compare how much such a barbecue costs, with the effect of its use, then for these funds it is better to build a garden barbecue oven with your own hands. How to do it right, our article will tell you.

Outdoor stove projects

Any construction, including a brick outdoor barbecue, must begin with the selection of a suitable project. You need to understand how much space you can allocate for its construction and what dishes you plan to cook while relaxing in the country. If your menu is limited to kebabs, and the size of the budget for setting up a garden hearth tends to zero, then with a certain skill you can make these simple kebabs with your own hands:

As you can see, the mortar is not needed here at all, and we build the brazier on a flat area from any suitable brick. You will only have to spend money on the purchase of gratings and a thick sheet of fireproof material (in the photo on the right), preferably minerite. At the same time, the barbecue can be of any size, as long as it is comfortable to cook and the required number of skewers are placed over the coals.

Note. Unlike heating stoves brick, garden hearths and barbecues do not have any canonical design and dimensions, even the masonry drawings given in the literature can be easily changed for themselves. At the same time, it is important not to violate the concept of smoke circulation and removal of combustion products.

If you want to do the best and thoroughly build a more aesthetic barbecue, then you can take the scheme and order shown below as a basis. To build it, you will have to cast a small concrete slab yourself, which will serve as a link between the brick supports and at the same time the surface for installing a metal brazier.

To prevent the smoke from the barbecue from being scattered by the wind in all directions, a do-it-yourself smoke box made of sheet metal is installed on top of the supports.

The mortar for laying this simple barbecue is used ordinary, cement-sand with the addition of clay for elasticity. Brick - ceramic of any brand, and the lower part to the plate can also be folded from white silicate. The height and dimensions of the brazier can vary depending on your needs, and to protect it from precipitation, it is recommended to install a canopy from available materials.

Those owners of land and summer cottages who have enough space and opportunities should consider creating an entire barbecue area with a stove complex and a gazebo. In addition to the barbecue, the complex may include the following elements:

  • hob;
  • grill;
  • smokehouse;
  • oven;
  • hearth with a cauldron for cooking Asian dishes.

What from this list should get into the barbecue area is up to you, after which you will have to find a suitable project. Fortunately, it is not difficult to find masonry drawings of garden complexes with different sets, including corner ones, on the same Internet. Next, we will present a couple of barbecue oven designs as examples and tell you how to build them correctly. The same applies to gazebo projects for placing an outdoor stove, and we propose to take the following drawing with a barbecue in the form of a fireplace as a basis:

Scheme and ordering of the street complex

This barbecue oven is combined with hob, here, if desired, a grill can be fitted. There is also a woodshed for storing logs for the purpose of preliminary drying. The arched vault above the firebox and the design of the chimney make this stove in many ways similar to a fireplace, only outdoors. So, for the construction you will need:

  • red stove brick (solid) - 450 pcs.;
  • fireclay stone for laying the firebox - 200 pcs.;
  • ceramic building bricks - 180 pcs.;
  • refractory clay - 40 kg;
  • river sand - 0.1 m3;
  • cement M400 - 8 bags of 25 kg;
  • furnace door 41 x 41 cm, cleaning door 14 x 14 cm;
  • view - 1 pc.;
  • cast iron stove 71 x 41 cm;
  • equal-shelf steel corner 40 x 4 mm - 4 m.

Below are the masonry drawings and ordering of the multifunctional barbecue stove:

Project of a street stove with a smokehouse

Those who love a wide variety of smoked meats will be interested in this design of a garden stove, where a small smokehouse is arranged above the hob in the smoke box. For its construction, simpler materials are needed, so in general, such a barbecue will cost less than the previous oven. Here is the list of materials:

  • all-construction ceramic brick - 430 pcs.;
  • cast iron stove for 2 burners 71 x 41 cm;
  • furnace door 28 x 28 cm, cleaning door 14 x 14 cm (2 pcs.); smokehouse 49 x 25 cm;
  • valve 12 x 21 cm;
  • steel corner for framing the plate;
  • metal rods for hanging smoked meats.

The advantage of this structure is the absence of refractory masonry, which greatly simplifies and reduces the cost of its implementation. The ordering and drawings of an outdoor barbecue with a smokehouse for DIY construction is shown in the figure:

As can be seen from the diagram, the grate and ash pan are also absent here, and in place of the ash chamber, a void filled with river pebbles is provided. This allows you to accumulate and retain heat longer.

metal barbecue

For a homeowner with welding skills, it is easier to make a portable metal barbecue grill than to lay it out of brick. Therefore, we could not ignore this very popular type of barbecue. But the metal good hands can take any form, hence the different designs of homemade barbecues. There is no point in presenting a traditional brazier on legs, but photos of more original products definitely deserve attention:

A metal barbecue from a gas cylinder can hardly be called portable due to its decent weight. But he has a firebox cover, which allows you to save smoldering coals for some time before frying the next portion of kebabs. Also interesting is the design of a barbecue with a lid, made by hand from an ordinary iron barrel:

The openwork construction of a barbecue grill with a polycarbonate canopy looks very aesthetically close to the house, whose drawing is shown below:

First of all, on the barbecue area, the foundation should be laid, since the weight of the brick oven is quite significant. There are 2 ways to build a foundation: rubble and in the form of a "floating" concrete slab. For the first, you will have to remove the top layer of subsiding soil in order to lean on a layer of clay. The dimensions of the pit should be 50 mm larger than the dimensions of the furnace in each direction.

The rubble foundation is laid by filling the dug pit with stone, pouring all the cavities with a liquid solution of 6 parts of sand, 1 part of M400 cement and 1 part of lime. The upper platform of the foundation is also leveled with this solution, and after it hardens, waterproofing is laid from 2 layers of roofing material. For the installation of a "floating" plate for the construction of a barbecue, the following step-by-step plan is observed:

  • on the site, dig a pit 200 mm larger than the furnace in each direction, the depth of the pit is 300 mm;
  • tamp the bottom and pour 150 mm of large gravel, which also needs to be compacted;
  • set a wooden formwork protruding 100 mm above ground level;
  • connect the reinforcing cage from rods 10-12 mm with a cell of 100 mm and lower it into the pit, resting it on the sides of the formwork;
  • make concrete from cement, sand and gravel in the following proportions: 1: 3: 7, respectively, and pour the foundation;
  • after a week, remove the formwork, and after 3 weeks lay 2 layers of roofing material and start building the barbecue.

For laying a barbecue, it is best to use a 1: 1 clay-sand mortar with the addition of a special oven plasticizer and a small amount of cement (about 20%). Fireclay stones should be laid on the same fireclay solution, avoiding bandaging with the front ceramic masonry. The thickness of the seam must be maintained within 5 mm, the remnants of the solution are removed with a trowel.

Each row of bricks should first be laid dry, if necessary, they should be cut or split. After that, each brick is soaked in a bucket of water, and then placed in place where the mortar has already been applied. Light tapping is perfectly acceptable. At the end of each row, the horizontal is checked by a level and the vertical is checked by a plumb line. The smoke turns of the barbecue are wiped from the inside with a damp cloth so that no solution remains on the walls.

Openings for stove fittings are made with a margin for metal expansion up to 5 mm, and for laying the arched vaults of an outdoor fireplace, templates of the required shape are prepared in advance - circles. Usually they are made of wood or plywood, sometimes drywall. When the barbecue is completely laid out, the solution should be allowed to harden for about 2 days (depending on the weather), after which the first heating should be done carefully. More information about the construction of the brazier is described in the video:

Conclusion

In fact, there are countless options for country barbecues and it is impossible to list at least a small part of them here. Therefore, we presented several examples that allow us to understand the essence and complexity of the task for the average layman. Only the first option without a solution can be called simple in execution, the rest will require you time, patience and scrupulousness in work, otherwise the stove will not last long.
