In total for training at the faculty of secondary vocational education in 2009-2010. 448 people were enrolled, 343 people remained to serve at the moment.
Several hundred people were screened out before admission. did not show a desire to study, but simply hoped to receive 10-20 thousand scholarships, eat free of charge and have a roof over their heads. The work of the military registration and enlistment offices and the command of units in the selection of candidates is evident.
During the training, another 105 people dropped out for the following reasons:
The cadets who passed the entrance tests for "satisfactory" receive a salary in the amount of 7000 rubles, this amount does not satisfy them;

Since all the cadets of the faculty of secondary vocational education are military personnel undergoing military service under a contract, they, in accordance with Art. 244 of the Charter of the Internal Service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is allowed to be outside the school until 24 hours, and family cadets (whose families live with them) until 7.30 the next day.

At the moment, cadets of the first (193 people) and the second course (150 people) are studying. We can confidently say that there are only those left who really want to study and serve as a sergeant, the rest have dropped out, for example, now 43 cadets are excellent students, 128 are studying for four and five, the rest have a range of grades from "3" to "5". I talked with the guys why they decided to become sergeants. Many have motivation for a good salary and a social package promised upon admission, which is added to the desire to be in the military. There is a part of the cadets who were not sure that they would pull training under the higher education program for an officer, so they chose which is simpler - a secondary professional sergeant. The contract is signed immediately for 8 years - 2 years and 10 months of training, then 5 years in the army. Recently, an order was issued, according to which a cadet, who refused further studies of his own free will, must return the money spent on his training to the state, until that moment it was possible to resign without any consequences.
Cadets-sergeants and cadets-officers undergo training in the troops right in the school, commanding platoons of cadets-three-month conscripts.
The guys' vision of their future is very interesting: "We are sergeants of the new army! We are the best! We will change the armed forces! We will train soldiers in a new way!" And they say this without any bragging, but as a matter of course.

RVVDKU (former RIVDV) today bears the honorary name of General V.F. Margelov, who put a lot of effort into making this educational institution became one of the best in the country. Whom does the school teach?
In addition to the school itself, there is a large training center, a parachute club and an aviation military transport squadron. RVVDKU (Ryazan) prepares graduates in three specialties and two specializations at once, adhering to the state order, which is formed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. All programs are structured in such a way that the term of study for each of them is five years. Girls are admitted to the school on a general basis.
Ryazan Airborne Military School: faculties, departments
In total, there are three faculties in the educational institution: SPE - 8 (it is there that you can get secondary vocational education), DPO and a special faculty, where military personnel from abroad are trained. The role of the leading subdivisions of the RVVDKU is performed by platoons, departments and companies. As of 2015, 19 departments function on the territory of the school.

Educational process
RVVDKU (Ryazan) differs from all other military schools in that the educational process is completely different here. The training is organized in such a way that all students receive not only theoretical, but also practical skills, and quite often this happens within the framework of the same lesson. There is practically no division into lecture and practical courses.
The duration of training is 5 years for cadets, and those who want to become officers will have to study a little longer - 5 years and 10 months. Cadets study for 10 semesters, at the end of each of them it is necessary to pass tests and exams, this is similar to an examination session in civil higher educational institutions.
Theoretical classes include attending lectures, writing laboratory and test papers, and attending extra-curricular consultations. Practical work includes internships, group sessions and exercises. From the second year, all cadets must defend term papers on a topic previously agreed with the supervisor.
For all five years of training, cadets spend more than 12 months on field trips. Every year, cadets go on a thirty-day vacation in the summer and fourteen-day vacation in the winter. Those cadets who graduated from college with honors receive an advantage in choosing a place where they will serve, according to the existing order.
Who can become a college student?
Admission to the Ryazan Airborne Military School begins annually on the first of July. There are quite serious health requirements for young people. Cadets can be those who have not served, if they are not yet 22 years old, as well as those who now serve on a conscription basis or on a contract basis (up to 25 years old). Even those who have previously served in the army are admitted to enrollment, provided that they are not yet 24 years old.

The oath at the Ryazan Airborne Force School takes place in early September; parents and friends of freshmen usually come to this solemn event. The school administration congratulates all students.

In 2016, the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School named after General of the Army V.F. Margelova every day arrives up to 1000 applicants planning to pass the entrance exams and continue their studies as cadets of the famous military university.
In total, it is planned to accept about 400 people for higher professional education. To date, there are more than 300 military personnel who have experienced the hardships of military service and have chosen this particular school to continue their careers. More than half of the arriving military applicants are contract professionals.
This year, in order to undergo full military special training, applicants are invited to study and receive specialization in the use of airborne forces (on BMD-4, mountain, with UAVs, as peacekeepers, in areas with a difficult Arctic climate) of military and special reconnaissance, communications, landing support, Marine Corps units.
All candidates who have passed the selection will have to master the basics of more than 25 new disciplines in less than a month and make three parachute jumps, including with weapons, from an Il-76 military transport aircraft. Only after that will the paratrooper cadets arrive from the Seltsy training center to the city of Ryazan, where they will swear allegiance to their homeland and continue their further training.
A specially appointed commission considers as applicants only citizens with the first category of health and age:
- for those who have not completed military service - up to 22 years;
- for those who have passed and are passing military service on conscription - up to 24 years;
- for military personnel under contract - up to 27 years
- Citizens under 30 are considered as candidates for admission only for secondary vocational education programs. For them, it is possible, when appointed to an officer's position, to receive the rank of junior lieutenant, but only on condition that they graduate from school (with a diploma with honors).
