Biography, life story of Andrey Serdyukov

Andrei Nikolaevich Serdyukov - Russian military leader, first deputy commander of the Southern Military District.

Striving for the dream of becoming a military man

Andrey was born on March 4, 1962 in the village of Uglegorsky, in the Rostov region. Long before the end high school firmly decided to embark on the path of the defender of the homeland. Get a military profession and go into the army, but not by someone, but by all means a paratrooper. It was with the landing troops that the teenager associated a real male profession.

Therefore, immediately after graduation, without hesitation, he submitted documents to the Ryazan VVDKU, where he was enrolled in the same year. The examinations were successful, the members of the medical commission had no objections. It could not be otherwise, because Andrei not only cherished the dream of joining the ranks of the brave fighters of the "tough" unit, but also tried in every way to bring it closer. He carefully studied those school disciplines that he later needed in the process of studying at a military university, paid great attention to physical training. Often to the detriment of free time, which many young men spend frivolously and cheerfully. Andrei managed to resist the temptations that lie in wait for young people at every step. Indeed, a potential paratrooper should not relax in "civilian life".

First steps in the army

In 1983, new officer shoulder straps shone with gold on the shoulders of the former cadet of the school. Upon arrival at his duty station in the Pskov region, he assumed command of the reconnaissance platoon of the 76th Airborne Division. The efforts of the young officer, his ability to find an approach to personnel, allowed him to soon become a company commander.

Serdyukov's ambitious plans extended to further command positions, but his military career provided for additional education. In 1993, Andrei Serdyukov graduated from the Military Academy named after. In 2009, a record of graduation from the academy appeared in his personal file. General Staff, where, according to the testimony of colleagues, he was the foreman of the course. The officers are well aware that such duties could only be performed by a person with an impeccable military reputation, moreover, with experience in military operations.

Now Serdyukov could move further up the command ladder. He was entrusted with a combined-arms army stationed in the Eastern Military District. Then they were transferred to the Southern District (formerly North Caucasian), parts of which were deployed in the important southwestern direction. The district included the Black Sea and Caspian flotillas, not to mention the two combined arms armies, as well as the Air Force and Air Defense.

Rumors about actions on the territory of Ukraine

In 2015, the secretary of the Ukrainian Security Council publicly announced that General Serdyukov was in command of the Russian contingent that "occupied" part of the territory of a neighboring state. It was about Donbass, in which, according to the official Kiev, foreign troops were stationed.

For its part, the leadership of the Russian defense department denied the participation of Russian military personnel in military clashes in eastern Ukraine.

At the same time, some journalists published information that Serdyukov directly led a military group that landed in Crimea in 2014. As you know, then on the peninsula there were unknown soldiers in ammunition without identification marks, later nicknamed "polite people."

It is possible that it was their presence that kept the Ukrainian command from taking decisive actions on the territory of the republic. As a result, a referendum was held there on the issue of joining Russia, in which the majority of Crimeans voted positively.

However, there is no official information about Serdyukov's participation in military operations in eastern Ukraine and Crimea. But it is known that during the Chechen campaign, Andrei Nikolaevich, then still a colonel, performed combat missions as the deputy commander of an airborne regiment.

Was part of the Russian peacekeeping unit in Serbian Kosovo.

He was awarded the Order of Courage and medals.

In which it was about the experiments in the field of defense conducted by A.E. Serdyukov. We publish it in full.

On September 30, 2010, at the training ground of the Ryazan Higher Command School of the Seltsy Airborne Forces, one of the loudest scandals in the modern history of Russia took place. Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, flying around the training ground by helicopter, noticed the unfinished buildings of the barracks and the canteen, he also noticed the Orthodox Church of Elijah the Prophet, built nearby. Coming out of the helicopter, Serdyukov immediately swore at the head of the Ryazan Airborne Forces School, Hero of Russia, Guards Colonel Andrei Krasov and the officers next to him: "The barracks are not completed, the dining room is not completed, and they built the church for 180 million!"

Andrei Krasov tried to explain to the minister that not a penny of budget money was spent on the construction of the temple, and it was completely built at the expense of the Ryazan diocese, various sponsors and veterans of the Airborne Forces. Krasov also said that in 2011, army chaplains will begin to be trained in the temple of Elijah the Prophet, who will then be sent to military units throughout the country. He also noted that the nearest temple is located 15 km from the training ground on the other bank of the Oka River, and getting to it for officers, their families, cadets and soldiers, to put it mildly, is problematic.

However, all this only angered Serdyukov, who, in a fit of rage, shouted: “You live in shit here, in shit and you will die! Don't give money for this Airborne Forces center! This school should be cut down altogether. Remove this arrogant colonel - and join the troops! "

After this story, the Union of Russian paratroopers appealed to President Medvedev and Patriarch Kirill with a request not to leave this situation unattended and to intercede for Colonel Andrei Krasov. The representative of the Synodal Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces, Archpriest Alexander Ilyashenko, who demanded that the Minister of Defense apologize to the commander Ryazan school Airborne Forces, and, regardless of whether he does it or not, said that Serdyukov should resign: this situation "From the worst side" characterizes Serdyukov himself as "a person who has nothing to do with the army" and "does not have any credit of trust, not only among the Armed Forces, but also among civilians."

The ever-increasing discontent among the troops about the new defense minister's policies has reached its peak. Even the officers of the elite units, who directly report to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief through the General Staff, expressed their dissatisfaction.

Details immediately surfaced of how the Ministry of Defense, in the amount of 280 million rubles, purchased defective parachutes for the Airborne Forces. Chief Military Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Sergei Fridinsky said: “Smart entrepreneurs made these parachutes not from new raw materials, but from old parts. Representatives of the army customer and military representatives, I think, not disinterestedly, turned a blind eye to this. Research carried out by specialists has shown that these parachutes cannot be used ”... As it turned out, this is far from an isolated case, and that in a similar way, for fabulous money, the troops received defective body armor, decommissioned ammunition and parts for helicopters and aircraft.

A number of State Duma deputies in an open letter to the president demanded the immediate resignation of Anatoly Serdyukov, who with his reforms only destroys the country's defense capability. The letter also said about the immediate plans of the Ministry of Defense, according to which in three years the Ground units will be reduced by 12 times, the Air Force-Air Defense and the Navy by 2 times, the Strategic Missile Forces by a third, and the Airborne Forces by 20 percent.
“The actual rout of the General Staff continues, which will also be more than halved. Experts are outraged by this rush. For three years, it is planned to reduce more than 2,000 parts and formations of our Armed Forces... No other country in the world has known such rates of “circumcision”.

Information about personnel reshuffles in the War Department began to appear in the press. So, instead of Colonel-General Viktor Vlasov, head of the Quartering and Arrangement Service, Colonel-General Viktor Vlasov, who committed suicide in 2008 (according to some reports, this happened a couple of days after the conversation with Serdyukov), the head of a construction company from St. Petersburg Leonid Sorokko was appointed to this position. It is worth noting that Sorocco's official salary in the new position is noticeably less than what he earned in his business. So why did he accept this offer? Perhaps because now he annually controls tens of billions of rubles allocated from the federal budget for the construction of houses for officers and other facilities of the Ministry of Defense.

The Main Directorate of Capital Construction of the Ministry of Defense has also noticeably replenished with purely civilian "specialists" from the city on the Neva. Their qualifications raises great doubts, but this does not prevent them from making statements about the need to privatize most of the facilities of the RF Armed Forces in Moscow. So, it was the leaders invited by Serdyukov who proposed to move the Main Headquarters of the Navy, the Peter the Great Academy, the CSK complexes and a number of other facilities from the capital.

The rest of the military departments were no more fortunate, and soon the so-called "St. Petersburg" ones also appeared in them. The program for the privatization of military facilities of the Ministry of Defense throughout Russia was headed by the former top manager of the Lenstroyrekonstruktsiya corporation Lev Vinnik and the general director of the St. Petersburg defense plant Leninets, Alexander Gorbunov. It should be noted that the Lenstroyrekonstruktsiya corporation belongs to Andrei Molchanov, the son of the current vice-governor of St. Petersburg, Yuri Molchanov, who in the 90s, together with Vladimir Putin, worked at the St. Petersburg University at the Department of International Relations.

Another scandal received a lot of attention in the press. In June 2010, an order for the purchase of furniture for the needs of the Ministry of Defense and Rosoboronpostavka appeared on the open site of the State Purchases. So, the head of the last department needed a set of furniture of 29 items for his office. Including the quote: "Olive root veneer and beech veneer table with mahogany veneer with meander marketed". Rosoboronpostavka deputies and lower-ranking executives had similar requests, for a total of 20.3 million rubles.

On his personal account, Anatoly Serdyukov also decided not to save money and asked: “The table should be made of an array of precious woods with finishing handmade semi-antique. Handles - gold, color - dark cherry. "

Such attention and requests for furniture from the head of the Ministry of Defense is not accidental. After graduating from the Leningrad Institute of Trade, Serdyukov in the period from 1984 to 1985 served in the ranks of the Soviet Army. True, for some unknown reason, he served only a year and a half instead of the prescribed two years - and this is the entire military experience of the Minister of Defense of a nuclear power.

After the army, Serdyukov began to work in the Lenmebeltorg store No. 3, which in 1986 changed its sign to "Dresden" and began selling furniture from the GDR. Moreover, according to the recollections of eyewitnesses, Serdyukov was in charge of the wall department in the store. By the way, the store was famous not only in Leningrad, but throughout the Union - it was very difficult to get scarce, and even imported furniture at that time. However, "Dresden" did not work for long, and after the unification of Germany it ceased to exist.

However, Serdyukov, apparently, liked working in the furniture business so much that until 2000 he was the general director of Mebel-Market JSC. In the late 90s, Serdyukov entered the correspondence department of the law faculty of St. Petersburg State University, where he met his current wife, the daughter of Viktor Zubkov (now the first deputy prime minister of the Russian Federation). From that moment on, Anatoly Serdyukov's career took off:

2001 - Head of the Tax Inspectorate of St. Petersburg
2004 - Head of the Federal Tax Service of Russia
2007 - Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation

This is how, thanks to the marriage to the daughter of an official close to Vladimir Putin, Anatoly Serdyukov turned from a simple "furniture maker" into the Minister of Defense of the world's largest country.

Information taken from the book "The Kremlin's Dirty Linen", "Yauza-press", Moscow, March 2011.

From the editor:The material presented in the article unambiguously testifies to the destructive nature of Serdyukov's experiments. Colossal damage has been done to the defense capability! Of course, as it turned out later, the relevant actions were not carried out on a "disinterested" basis - Serdyukov and his associates "warmed up their hands" in the machinations. And their case, unfortunately, turned out to be hushed up. Which once again confirms the lack of understanding by the authorities of the essence of what is happening, the tasks facing Russia.

On the P21 "Kola" highway in the Kola district of the Murmansk region, a car with the commander of the Russian Airborne Forces (Airborne Forces) Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, who headed the operation to "return" Crimea to the Russian Federation, was in an accident. In the accident, Serdyukov broke his spine and received a serious head injury. This was announced on Tuesday evening, September 19, by "Lenta.ru" and the REN TV channel, citing their own sources.

Later, information about the accident was confirmed by the information department of the RF Ministry of Defense. "As a result of the traffic accident, the commander of the Airborne Forces, Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov, and the serviceman accompanying him were injured," Interfax quotes a message from the military department.

The incident was described in the Ministry of Defense as follows: the driver of a private car lost control, drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a minibus moving in a military convoy.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that the state of health of the commander of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Federation is characterized by doctors as satisfactory, nothing threatens his life.

The injured servicemen were promptly taken to a military hospital, where they were given medical assistance, the Ministry of Defense said. From media reports, however, it follows that the injuries sustained by the commander-in-chief of the Airborne Forces are more serious.

The car accident occurred on September 15 at 14:45 on the 1420th kilometer of the P21 Kola highway. The correspondent of "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" in the Murmansk region provided a note about this on the website with a link to a YouTube video titled "A terrible accident near Murmansk with a military convoy", which was filmed, as follows from the caption, on September 15 and uploaded to the service on September 17.

As follows from the materials of the accident check, which Lenta.ru refers to, a Volkswagen Caravella minibus, which was traveling in a motorcade accompanied by military traffic police cars, was hit by a Chevrolet Lanos passenger car, which drove out of the oncoming lane.

The Colonel General, in serious condition with a serious head injury and a fracture of the spine, was taken to the intensive care unit of the Northern Fleet hospital.

The 52-year-old deputy commander-in-chief for airborne training, Major General Vladimir Kochetkov, was also injured in the accident, he was hospitalized with numerous fractures.

In addition, a 49-year-old assistant commander in chief and a 35-year-old adjutant were injured. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 34-year-old resident of Murmansk, died from his injuries in an ambulance. His 39-year-old wife was hospitalized with serious injuries. Two of their children, teenagers 16 and 17 years old, got off with minor bruises.

The driver of the service minibus was sober and received minor bruises in an accident. The issue of initiating a criminal case is being resolved. The Defense Ministry neither confirmed nor denied the information about the accident.

The commander-in-chief and his deputy arrived on the Kola Peninsula to check the conditions of service of the personnel of the units stationed here. The car carrying the generals belongs to the Northern Fleet's support center.

Andrey Serdyukov: biographical note

Andrey Nikolaevich Serdyukov was born on March 4, 1962 in the village of Uglegorskiy, Rostov Region. In 1983 he graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne command school, began serving as the commander of the reconnaissance platoon of the 104th Guards Air airborne division.

Before entering the MV Frunze Military Academy, he held the positions of deputy company commander, company commander, chief of staff - deputy battalion commander, battalion commander.

Upon completion of his studies in 1993, he was appointed deputy commander of the Guards Parachute Regiment of the 76th Guards Airborne Division, and two years later - the commander of this regiment.

In the further career of Andrei Serdyukov, there were the posts of deputy division commander, commander of a separate guards motorized rifle brigade in the LVO, and a guards airborne formation.

After graduating from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces in 2009, he became deputy commander of the 5th Army of the Far East Military District. Since January 2011, he has been the commander of this formation in the Eastern Military District.

As reported by the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper, he was awarded the Orders of Courage, For Service to the Motherland in the USSR Armed Forces, III degree and For Military Merit, eight medals, including those for Military Merit.

Serdyukov was appointed commander-in-chief of the Airborne Forces by presidential decree of October 4, 2016, on October 10, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu handed him the standard and recommended him as "a competent leader and a skillful organizer." "Gained experience of service in the Far Eastern, Southern and Western regions. Passed all the main command and staff positions - from the commander of a reconnaissance platoon to the commander of the 12th reserve of the Southern Military District," added Shoigu.

Serdyukov replaced Vladimir Shamanov in this post, who took over as head of the State Duma's defense committee.

Director of the Center for Strategic Conjuncture Ivan Konovalov told about the remarkable career of the Colonel General.

Today Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov became the commander of the Airborne Forces instead of Vladimir Shamanov.

M. BACHENIN: Let's talk to the person who, I hope, will bring us up to date. The director of the Center for Strategic Business, Ivan Konovalov, is in touch with us. Ivan Pavlovich, hello!

I. KONOVALOV: Good afternoon!

M.B .: Ivan Pavlovich, can you tell us something about the person of Andrei Serdyukov?

I.K .: Well, Serdyukov is now a legendary person, no less than the legendary Vladimir Anatolyevich Shamanov, the former commander of the Airborne Forces. Because it was Serdyukov who commanded and directed the operation in Crimea, and this operation has recently been recognized as perhaps the most successful of all military operations of the 21st century.

The operation in Crimea was bloodless, and its political effect was tremendous. So now Serdyukov has already become a legend

I. Konovalov

M.B .: You started so that I thought: is it really only because he took over as commander of the Airborne Forces and immediately into the legend. That would be great too. Okay, but will he enjoy the same respect and honor, and I pronounce these words with absolutely justified pathos, as Vladimir Shamanov used among the veterans, paratroopers?

I.K .: Do not forget that at one time the Airborne Forces were created by another legendary general and marshal - Margelov. And everyone who came after Margelov, in one way or another, honored traditions. All the generals who were at the head of the Airborne Forces at one time have always been the elite of our army, whether we are talking about the Soviet or Russian army - it does not matter.

M.B .: Well, it's not for nothing that the Airborne Forces are called Uncle Vasya's troops. Continue, please, forgive me for interrupting.

I.K .: You can name many generals who were at the head of the Airborne Forces, and they are all worthy people. Please note that information was leaked from the Ministry of Defense that General Teplinsky was considered for the post of commander of the Airborne Forces - this is also a worthy person, a hero Russian Federation... In the first Chechen war in general, he was a junior officer, fought in the forward units, went an amazing way.

M.B .: Random people cannot end up in this post.

I.K .: Yes, this is basically impossible.

M.B .: That is, people who went through the Crimea and copper pipes.

I.K .: Pay attention to the same career path, I say in a good way, of General Shamanov. After all, he left the army, was the governor, but returned, because he is a real military bone, a true Russian officer.

M.B .: Well, it's not easy to leave the Airborne Forces, yes.

I.K .: There is a concept "Russian officer" all over the world. There is the concept of French cinema or British tea, but there is a Russian officer.

The highest degree of Russian officers is a paratrooper, a Russian paratrooper

I. Konovalov

M.B .: With your permission, I will return you to General Serdyukov. That is, he became known in his circles solely thanks to the Crimean operation. What else can you say about Serdyukov? Where else did he serve, what did he do, some military merit.

I.K .: First of all, General Serdyukov, like all the commanders of the Airborne Forces without exception, went through a career as an Airborne Forces officer from the very beginning. He was a platoon commander and at the same time later commanded a combined-arms army in the Eastern Military District. This is very serious, you understand that a paratrooper who has completed a rather specific service, then receives an appointment as a commander in the combined arms army.

M.B .: Why is this remarkable? Can we, civilians, be explained?

I.K .: You understand that paratroopers are a special kind of troops. This is a special forces, such a big special forces.

And commanding a combined-arms army, where you have aviation, air defense forces, ground forces and whatever, is a little different. Because it is believed that paratroopers go all their way like such special forces, even if they command large formations like an airborne division - an airborne assault or an airborne assault. But this is fundamentally wrong, because the landing officers have a very broad outlook, they are highly educated people.

Serdyukov proved that a paratrooper officer can command a combined-arms army, there is nothing surprising in this

I. Konovalov

And it should be noted that all those who went through hot spots, officers, both Afghanistan and Chechnya, they, starting from the early 2000s, have received the opportunity for serious career growth, and this is really good.

M.B .: Is it as a reward or is it an experience?

I.K .: No, this is just a confirmation of merit.

I.K .: Of course, yes, because if our troops had not saved the situation, there would have been such a hell that it’s even difficult to imagine. Therefore, quick and clear actions saved the situation in many ways. And most importantly, in that situation in Crimea, it was necessary to act independently. It was not enough to receive the order of the supreme commander-in-chief to act, and then, on the spot, you need to act yourself.

General Serdyukov just noted that he found himself in a situation where he must act himself and prevent conflict

I. Konovalov

On the other hand, to save the situation and prevent the forces of the nationalists who seized power in Kiev from breaking into Crimea and staging an orgy there. In military history, for some reason, they always value those who achieve something with a lot of blood. And here it was possible without blood. And this is much higher.

M.B .: Nicely. Thank you for keeping us up to date.

this music is about another Serdyukov

SHAMANOV WILL CHANGE FOR SERDYUKOV ?.

The paratroopers have already come out in support of the resignation of one non-handshake defense minister in 2010. Exactly two years later, on November 7, 2012 MO Taburetkin was removed .. It came to someone.
Serdyukov again? "Fedot ... but no, but not that one"

On Friday, he said that the candidacy of the new commander of the Airborne Forces has already been determined. It should be Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander of the Southern Military District. Expected that it will be officially appointed in October.
I would like to note that Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov, who heads the Airborne Forces, has been elected a deputy of the State Duma, according to information he may become the head of the defense committee.
Nevertheless, the official representative of the Airborne Forces, Irina Kruglova, refused to answer the question of the VZGLYAD newspaper about the new commander:
“I don't even want to comment on these rumors. Colonel-General Shamanov continues to lead the troops, ”Kruglova said.
